2021 Ford Escape Redesign
The upcoming 2021 Ford Escape will hit the streets completely redesigned. As a result, this SUV is now wider, longer, and comes with a lower stance than before. The roofline line is sloped, while the shrouded underbody and optimized liftgate will increase the aerodynamics of the vehicle. During the developing phase, the engineers spent many hours in the wind tunnel, trying to improve the airflow all around the vehicle.
The outcome is in front of you, absolutely unique and efficient compact crossover. Moreover, the refreshed model brings a redesigned shield-shaped grille. The similar one you can see on the sixth-generation of Mustang. The front fascia details can compare to the ones on the Ford GT.
The wheelbase is 106.7 inches long, 0.8 inches longer than the previous model. The most important improvement for this generation is the lower beltline. New model rides on the new platform that will reduce the weight by roughly 200 pounds.
One of the main focus of the upcoming 2021 Ford Escape is flexibility. That attitude reflects on the interior. The second-row sliding seats can move approximately six inches and allow the passengers to adjust the space as they see fit. In the same manner, the glove box is impressively broad, it can easily accommodate a 12-inch tablet in there. On top of that, the luggage section is large enough to store any kind of gear.
The brand-new cabin is more spacious and offers decent head/legroom for the rear passengers. The second-row bench can fold and the steering wheel travel is upgraded by 1.3 inches. This improvement means a lot to the taller drivers, and they can finally fully enjoy this outstanding cabin.
One of the new standard features includes Ford’s Co-Pilot360 driver-assistance package. and Ford Pass Connect with 4G LTE Wi-Fi. This function allows the drivers to connect up to 10 devices at once. In addition, a wireless device charging is included, four USB and three 12-volt sockets.

The 2021 Ford Escape Will Be A 7-Seat SUV
Lately, very interesting reports coming from Ford’s headquarters in Michigan. The famous automaker is planning to add the third-row on the 2021 Ford Escape and make a 7-seat SUV. The idea behind this is that the 7-seat compact crossover will be a perfect replacement for Ford Kuga.
Still, there’s another question among the fans considering the comfort in the cabin. The forthcoming vehicle will be longer from the previous version, so the third-row will fit perfectly. According to some rumors, this model will replace the Ford Edge for the North American market. Both vehicles will get a similar platform and will share many things in common.
The 2021 Ford Escape offers four engine options. The first drivetrain option is a 1.5-liter 3-cylinder EcoBoost turbocharged gasoline unit. This drivetrain can produce 180 hp and 177 lb-ft of torque. The 1.5-liter comes as standard for the S, SE, and SEL versions.
Also, this engine includes a cylinder-deactivation program, that will run on two cylinders and improve fuel economy numbers. The second option is a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder EcoBoost turbo gasoline mill, that develops 250 hp and 275 lb-ft. This powerplant is standard on Titanium and optional on SEL. The gasoline versions work with an advanced 8-speed automatic transmission.
But, the shift paddles are available only with 2.0-liter EcoBoost turbo. The Escape Hybrid and PHEV variants are connected with an electronically controlled continuously variable transmission. The FWD is a standard option on the 1.5-liter, PHEV, and hybrid. The AWD will be available for the 2.0-liter gasoline variants, and optional for the 1.5-liter and hybrid models.
Ford Escape Hybrid and PHEV
The two earlier mentioned powerplants, the 2021 Ford Escape will offer hybrid gasoline-electric setup (HEV), and a plug-in gasoline-electric system (PHEV). The HEV uses a 2.5-liter naturally aspirated four-cylinder gas engine, with a 1.1 kWh electric motor. The setup is able to produce 198 hp, and it’s ready for use in the SE Sport and Escape Titanium.
The PHEV combines the 2.5-liter gas mill and 14.4-kWh electric motor, for a total output of 209 hp. This powertrain comes with SE, SEL, and Titanium trims. To point out, the power and torque of the 1.5 and 2.0-liter units record these figures using 93-octane fuel. Expect lower results when 87-octane gasoline is used.
The EPA fuel economy figures are unknown at the moment. Yet, we expect that the plug-in hybrid will have all-electric up to 30 miles. The hybrid version will be able to travel more than 500 miles in between recharging. The liquid-cooled lithium-ion battery pack is installed below the rear seat, so the cargo space stays untouched.

The upcoming 2021 Ford Escape comes out from the Louisville Assembly Plant in Kentucky. Five trim levels will be available: S, SE Sport, SEL, and Titanium. The price is still unknown. But, the company will probably announce all details before the releasing date later this year.
